I would like to dedicate the title to Agatha Christie – And there were None. Her novels are extraordinary and impacted me a lot. In this novel she starts with a famous nursery rhyme – “Ten little boys went out to dine; One choked his little self and then there were nine…..Two little boys sitting in the sun; One got frizzled up and then there was one. One little boy left all alone; He went out and hanged himself and then there were none.” I’m sure now you understand why had this name for the title.

Most of you might have underestimated the power of the landing pages. If your landing pages are like mazes with a lot of twists and turns and leading the net-surfer with a lot of unwarranted or uninterested information, then you would never have any leads from your landing pages.

What is a Landing Page?

In digital marketing, the Landing page is a standalone webpage, created specifically for a marketing or advertising campaign. These pages are designed with a single goal known as Call To Action(CTA). I hope now the meaning of the landing page is clear for all the ambiguous minds who misinterpreted the meaning who dumped too much of unwanted information and without a CTA on this page. This is a very important piece of information and the net surfer sees your information for the first time. Never distract him with unnecessary information and you only have one chance to impress your landing page visitor and don’t miss the chance!

Landing Page vs Home Page :

I have already stated the purpose of a landing page but many misunderstand and assume that to be a home page of the website. I really appreciate the effort Unbounce took to succinctly inform the purpose of Landing pages.

The 5 Prerequisites of a Landing Pages:

There has to be a Unique Selling Proposition and it must be with a thesis statement followed by supporting details and the owner’s argument. If you miss these elements then it is losing the essence of the page. Add a hero shot which can use images or videos supporting the thesis which is stated in the argument. Followed by these points insert the benefits of your offering, social proof and CTA.

Studies show that landing pages have great potential to change a prospect to customer. 90 out of 100 prospects who land in your landing page are potential leads who have the genuine cause to click the link and visit your page. Therefore it is your responsibility to make the prospect feel confident on the products you offer with the USP and hero shot on your page.

Importance of the Landing Page:

Lead Generation

The purpose of your Landing page is to create traffic and convert them into a customer. This page has every potential to generate genuine leads. One can’t ignore the purpose of the page. So never dump too much information on the page except for the 5 prerequisites.

Lead Details

The offer you promised on this page must force the prospect to fill in the form and that is how you could get the complete details of the prospect.

Cogent and Coherence

The page must have a cogent cause of the offer and that is when we get the desired effect.  Hence I suggest you be clear, precise and unambiguous on the lines you write to lure your prospects.

Decision Making

This is the whole purpose of the page and your job is half done if the prospect decides by looking at your offer. Force them to decide and make them feel confident based on your information. Never give false promises, analogies, statements which can create a mistrust on your company.
